01

FRACGP and FACCRM GP Positions

Fellowship-qualified GPs are in high demand across WA and NT — particularly in the Kimberley, Goldfields, Pilbara and Wheatbelt regions where GP shortages are most acute. FRACGP and FACCRM-qualified doctors can access VMO arrangements, higher daily rates and longer-term block placements. We work directly with WACHS and NT Health workforce teams, which means access to roles before they reach general job boards. Accommodation and travel are typically arranged for regional and remote placements.

Rural Generalist and GP/ED Positions

Rural Generalists and GP/ED-trained doctors are among the most sought-after locums in WA and NT. The ability to cover both general practice and emergency department shifts makes you exceptionally valuable in regional hospitals — particularly across the Kimberley, East Kimberley, and remote NT communities. Many of our current GP/ED roles include accommodation, FIFO travel, and competitive day rates that reflect the genuine demand for this skill set.

GP Registrar Positions

GP registrars can access locum work between training terms or during approved leave periods, subject to RACGP and ACRRM training pathway requirements. We're upfront about what's permissible at each stage of training and work with your supervisor to ensure any locum placement doesn't disrupt your pathway. Registrar-level roles are available in both metro and regional settings.

Where the Demand Is: Perth, Darwin & Regional

GP demand is highest across the Kimberley (Broome, Kununurra, Derby, Fitzroy Crossing), the Goldfields (Kalgoorlie, Esperance, Laverton), the Pilbara (Karratha, Port Hedland, Newman), and the Wheatbelt (Northam, Merredin, Narrogin). In the NT, Darwin, Alice Springs, Katherine and remote community health services all have ongoing GP vacancies. Perth metro demand is concentrated in outer suburban areas and community health centres. FIFO and DIDO arrangements are standard for most regional and remote roles, with accommodation and travel typically covered by the health service.

What GP Locum Doctors Say

"I've done locum work through three different agencies and AU Locums Direct is the only one that actually knew the Kimberley. They had current contacts at the health service, understood the FIFO arrangements, and had me placed within 48 hours. The accommodation was sorted before I even asked."

Dr. Rachel M.

FRACGP — Kimberley Region, WA

"As a Rural Generalist covering both GP and ED, I needed an agency that understood the dual-skill value and could negotiate rates accordingly. AU Locums Direct got it immediately — they placed me in the Goldfields at a rate that reflected the genuine demand for GP/ED cover, not just a standard GP rate."
